Jean Onana has left Besiktas after three difficult seasons in Türkiye.

According to L'Équipe, the 26-year-old Cameroon midfielder made only four appearances for the Istanbul club, and on Tuesday the parties ended their agreement.

He joined from Lens in summer 2023 for a little over five million euros. He soon slipped out of the first-team picture and was loaned twice in recent seasons, including to Genoa. The move brought little return for the 16-time Türkiye champions.

He also had a spell at Marseille in 2024. Before Besiktas he played for Lille, Bordeaux and Lens, totalling 58 Ligue 1 matches. He moved to Lille at 20 in a two million euro deal.

Onana has 14 caps for Cameroon. He is now a free agent and can choose his next club.
