Wolves supporters have condemned a pay rise for former chairman Jeff Shi after the club’s latest accounts emerged.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, for 2024/25 the club posted a £15.3 million loss and Shi received a £124,000 increase. The highest paid director earned £688,000, up from £564,000. The director is not named in the filings, but is understood to be Shi, who was chairman at the time.
Over the same period revenue fell from £177.7 million to £172 million, and Wolves dropped two places to finish 16th in the Premier League.
Fans on social media expressed anger at what they saw as mismanagement under owners Fosun and said the rise rewarded the person they blamed for chaos.
Others called it outrageous and questioned the justification. Some pointed to ticket price rises during a cost of living crisis and said good riddance. Another referenced the summer transfer window, while one suggested linking the pay rise to the loss of long-standing season ticket holders and described it as rewarding failure.
