Jérémy Jacquet agrees Chelsea move with Premier League side set to loan defender back to Rennes | OneFootball

Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet (20) has agreed to move to Chelsea with the Premier League side expected to proceed with the signing of the highly-rated France U21 international centre-back, according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. However, Chelsea are now open to let Jacquet spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at his formative side. The report adds that Chelsea plan to recall David Datro Fofana from his loan in order to free up Jacquet’s loan slot.

Given Rennes wanted to keep hold of Jacquet until the summer, such a move would suit all parties. Les Rouge et Noir would stick to their initial plan and retain Jacquet until the end of the season whereas Chelsea would steal a march on their European rivals and sign the 20-year-old on a long-term contract. As for Jacquet, RMC Sport reports that he has agreed to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues and the Bretons now need a strike an agreement over a transfer fee. Rennes expect to break their €60m club-record sale. Talks are underway between the two sides. Rennes host Lorient this Saturday.
