As scrutiny builds around Zinédine Zidane’s first France squad, Jérémy Jacquet has been named on a provisional list, according to L'Équipe.

The 21-year-old centre-back has impressed with Liverpool, including a goal-line clearance that preserved a 0-0 draw against Fulham at the weekend.

He is part of an expanded group that includes several players yet to be capped at senior level, among them Brighton defender Olivier Boscagli.

Zidane will unveil his first list on 18 September at FFF headquarters, when doubts over potential newcomers will be resolved.

The Nations League schedule features away games in Türkiye on 25 September and in Belgium on 28 September, then at the Stade de France against Italy on 2 October and Belgium on 5 October.
