Arsenal are pursuing Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga this summer as they build their next generation of talent.
Fabrizio Romano reports that discussions are ongoing and that the teenager is open to a move to Arsenal.
Monga became the club’s second-youngest appearance maker and second-youngest Premier League debutant, then scored his first senior goal in last season’s 2-1 Championship defeat to Preston.
Arsenal face competition from Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea. Initial talk put a fee at around £6 million, with United previously opening talks at that price, but Leicester could now command £10 million to £15 million. An eight-figure bid would be transformative for a third-tier club and could set a League One record.
Leicester secured a scholarship that converts into a professional deal when Monga turns 17 on 10 July, strengthening their position, although a tribunal cannot be ruled out.
After relegation to League One, Leicester are planning a major clear-out, with several seniors leaving on expiry and other leading assets attracting interest. The club do not strictly need to sell, with wage savings easing pressure, but academy sales count as pure profit, so a huge offer could be hard to refuse after losing top-flight revenue.
For the player, Arsenal would offer daily work alongside elite talent such as Bukayo Saka. Remaining at Leicester could bring a full season of first-team football in League One, which might aid his immediate development more than a Premier League academy programme.
