Jesse Lingard says the passion of Corinthians’ supporters is driving the squad as he settles into Brazilian football.

"They give 100% all the time. When the team are not doing so well, they come to the training ground and speak to us. I had never experienced that before. It gives you even more motivation to win on match day," he told BBC News.

The 33-year-old arrived at Parque São Jorge in March 2026 and debuted in April in a 3-1 defeat to Fluminense. He has eight appearances for Corinthians and one goal, scored against Barra of Santa Catarina in the Copa do Brasil.

He has mostly featured from the bench. With Kayke, Gui Negão and Memphis Depay sidelined, he could be in line for more minutes.

He is keen to face Neymar of Santos, a meeting that could come on 30 August when the next Clássico Alvinegro in the Brasileirão is scheduled. "It is always good to play against world-class players. You can test yourself against those guys."

Before joining Corinthians, Lingard spent two years with Seoul FC in South Korea. He is contracted until the end of 2026 and is available for Thursday’s Copa Libertadores tie against Peñarol.
