Jesse Lingard signing gives Corinthians historic trio of World Cup scorers | OneFootball

Jesse Lingard’s arrival has delivered a club first for Corinthians. According to Meu Timao, the squad now includes three players who have scored at a World Cup.

Lingard struck in England’s 6-1 win over Panama in 2018. The other World Cup scorers in the group are Memphis Depay and André Carrillo.

Depay, Corinthians’ number 10, has two World Cup goals across two tournaments. His first came at the Neo Química Arena during the 2018 World Cup in a 2-0 win over Chile. He added another in 2022 in a 3-1 victory against the United States.

Carrillo featured in the only World Cup of his career in 2018 with Peru. He scored in the 2-0 win over Australia in the final round of the group stage and operated on the right wing at the time.

Back in 2011, Corinthians had four World Cup scorers in Adriano, Liedson, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo. That quartet, however, never took the field together.

Lingard is not yet cleared to make his debut. The club are awaiting documentation to register him on the Brazilian Football Confederation’s Boletim Informativo Diário (BID), and he must complete physical preparation after last playing in December 2025.
