Arsenal will face off against Portsmouth at Fratton Park this Sunday as they look to secure a positive result on the road in the FA Cup. The Gunners were held to a goalless draw by Liverpool recently, so they would be eager to get back to winning ways in domestic football.

Mikel Arteta will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a whole host of changes to his first team for this game. Gabriel Jesus, Ben White and Eberechi Eze could all play from the start of this contest.

Defence

Kepa Arrizabalaga will feature in between the sticks for the Gunners as he looks to keep a clean sheet on the road. William Saliba will function alongside Piero Hincapie at the centre of the Arsenal backline as they look to maintain a solid shape on the defensive end of the field.

Ben Davies will try to operate as the right-back, while Myles Lewis-Skelly hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.

Gabriel and Jurrien Timber will be rested on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Arteta could opt for a midfield three of Eberechi Eze, Christian Norgaard and Mikel Merino as they focus on establishing their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park.

Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice will have to settle for a place on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Gabriel Martinelli will get a chance to impress as the left-winger, while Noni Madueke hopes to put his pace to good use on the right flank.

Gabriel Jesus will lead the line for the North London club in the final third. He has to figure out a way to be a constant menace in the final third.

Viktor Gyokeres and Bukayo Saka will get a rest on the bench as they wait for their chance to influence the game in the latter stages if the Gunners are in need of a goal by then. However, Max Dowman remain sidelined with an ankle injury.
