According to Globo.com, attacking midfielder Jhon Arias signed a pre-contract with Palmeiras on Thursday afternoon, a step often used in major deals to safeguard an agreement. Final paperwork with Wolverhampton and a medical are required before any announcement.
The transfer is set at €25 million, about R$154 million, with a contract running until the end of 2029.
Wolverhampton’s arrangement with Fluminense, Arias’s former club before he moved to England, granted the Rio side a matching option. They did not exercise it.
Fluminense instead proposed around €20 million, which Wolverhampton rejected, clearing the way for Palmeiras to advance.
In early 2026, with Wolverhampton struggling at the foot of the Premier League on eight points from 24 matches, Palmeiras renewed talks to bring Arias back to Brazil.
The 28-year-old has played 26 games this season, scoring two goals and adding one assist.
