Five years after leaving his last coaching job with the German national team, Joachim Löw no longer believes he will return to the dugout.
The 2014 World Cup-winning coach told reporters in Berlin on Monday that a return to coaching is “rather unlikely” at this stage.
Despite having received a number of offers since stepping down after Euro 2021, Löw has not found anything suitable.
“So far, I’ve been lacking a bit of the inner fire for it. That’s absolutely necessary if you want to be a coach,” he said, pointing out that he has now been out of the game “for quite a few years”.
“I don’t even know whether I still have the energy to constantly push a team forward. As a coach, you absolutely need that.”
He added that football is “constantly evolving”.
“I’m not even sure whether everything I say is still correct,” said Löw, although he did leave the door slightly open.
“Maybe, if an offer comes along that really excites me, I could do it again.”
