After missing out on Nico Williams earlier in the month, it will be important for Barcelona to recalibrate their transfer strategy and figure out how to approach the market right now.

The club have been linked with a move for a plethora of attackers, most of whom are quite unaffordable for the Blaugrana.

That is perhaps why the club appear to have singled out Marcus Rashford as one player who must join the club this summer.

Key meeting in Barcelona

In the wake of reports linking Rashford to Barcelona, the club’s key members had an important meeting with agent Pini Zahavi in the city yesterday.

This is according to El Chiringuito, which suggests that president Joan Laporta and coach Hansi Flick were involved in the meeting, which lasted an hour and a half.

A key point of discussion in the meeting was Barcelona’s squad-building heading into the new season.

In addition, the two parties talked about the prospect of Rashford joining Barcelona this summer. Zahavi, after all, is an agent to the Manchester United international, who appointed him in early May 8.

It must be noted that Zahavi has a close connection with Barcelona, having played a key role in helping Robert Lewandowski move to Catalonia a few years ago.

One would expect Zahavi to once again become the kingmaker as Barcelona look to bring in Rashford in order to beef up their options in the attacking unit.

As mentioned earlier, the Catalans have already accelerated their pursuit of the Manchester United attacker, who is reportedly willing to take a 40% wage cut.
