Barcelona president Joan Laporta has this weekend dealt the club’s supporters hopeful of further arrivals in the club’s squad this summer something of a blow.
This comes amid confirmation that, as of this moment, no new faces are expected.
Barcelona, across the summer to date, have sanctioned a trio of additions to Hansi Flick’s star-studded ranks.
First up came goalkeeper Joan García, followed by youngster Roony Bardghji, and most recently, this week, Marcus Rashford.
With the latter only on loan, and Bardghji not yet guaranteed of a first-team berth, however, many are of the opinion that Barca’s squad remains lacking in some areas.
Speaking during an interview with Mundo Deportivo this weekend, the subject of further signings was in turn put to the aforementioned Joan Laporta.
In quotes relaid by journalist Fabrizio Romano, however, the Blaugrana’s president went on to explain:
“In principle, there will be no more new signings this summer. We have a good squad, and the coach wants to strengthen the first team with players from the reserves… so we don’t expect new deals at the moment.”
