As Barcelona move closer to a new presidential election, Joan Laporta is emerging once again as the favourite to retain his position, reports Diario SPORT.
Laporta intends to run for another five-year term after what he describes as one of the most demanding periods in the club’s history.
Having taken charge during a time of deep financial turmoil, he is determined to continue the rebuilding process, from restoring economic stability to overseeing the reconstruction of the Spotify Camp Nou.
Laporta is expected to maintain most of his current executive team, although some changes will be made following the departures of key figures like Eduard Romeu and Juli Guiu.
There are also suggestions that some familiar faces from previous administrations could make a return to strengthen his camp.
However, the road to another term is not without competition. Victor Font, who finished second in the 2021 elections with his “Sí al Futur” project, has remained a constant presence in the Catalan football scene.

A long-time critic of the current administration, Font continues to advocate for a modern and transparent model of governance, supported by prominent names such as former economic committee president Jaume Guardiola.
Another emerging challenger is Joan Camprubi, leader of the “Som un Clam” group, which calls for greater professionalism and transparency in the club’s management.
Coming from a family with a rich presidential legacy, Camprubi has surrounded himself with figures like Jordi Roche and Marta Pascual.
Former board member Xavi Vilajoana has also begun a consultative campaign, “Veus del Barça” (“Voices of Barça”), to reconnect decision-making with members.
Economist Marc Ciria, once an ally of Laporta, is also gaining attention for opposing the sale of part of BLM, the club’s commercial arm.
