According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Joan Laporta will not travel to the team's training camp in Birmingham after being hospitalised in Barcelona with a heart arrhythmia, which he has overcome. He is resting and his duties are paused for a few days.
His last official engagement came on Saturday, when he received Karim Adeyemi, a new men's first-team signing, and welcomed Caroline Graham Hansen to sign her contract renewal.
On Tuesday he felt strong enough to share the ordeal, but his activity remains restricted. He will hand over to Rafa Yuste for Wednesday's board meeting. Yuste served as acting president from the election victory until 1 July.
One decision due is to set the date of the Assembly of Delegates, usually held in October. This edition carries greater weight than in recent years. The easiest vote will be the ratification of directors who remained during the electoral process and returned to the winning ticket.
By contrast, delegates must approve a request to increase Espai Barça financing by at least €400 million, agreed with Goldman Sachs and valued at €1.45 billion.
He thanked the medical staff at Hospital de Barcelona, led by Dr Jordi Morillas, praising their excellence and human care. He also highlighted Barcelona's medical services headed by Dr Xavier Corbella and his chief of staff Manana Giorgadze for efficient coordination. He thanked Dr Valentí Fuster and the Mount Sinai team for their advice, and Dr Brugada for recommending the procedure.
