João Afonso to join FC Porto in 2026/27 after 1.5 million euro deal | OneFootball

João Afonso, the 19-year-old Santa Clara goalkeeper, will join FC Porto for the 2026/27 season.

According to O Jogo, Porto have agreed a 1.5 million euro fee plus 500,000 in add-ons for 80 per cent of his rights, and the remaining 20 per cent can be bought for two million euros.

At the Dragão, Afonso will sign a five-year contract.

Sporting made a bid that did not reach one million euros, which Santa Clara rejected as they rate the player highly. The Lisbon club had earmarked him for their B team in 2026/27.

Afonso has been involved with Santa Clara’s senior squad since the age of 16 and ended the campaign as first-choice, trusted by Petit for the final two matches against Nacional and Porto. He is also in Oceano Cruz’s Toulon Tournament squad, alongside Francisco Silva of Sporting and Diogo Fernandes of Porto.
