With Wolves on the brink of relegation, Joao Gomes is highly unlikely to stay and the club have set a £60 million starting valuation for any sale. After losing to West Ham United, they are 15 points adrift with six to play.
According to RTI Esporte, the midfielder would prefer to remain in England.
His profile has risen and he is being monitored by Manchester City and other leading sides. Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are also in the mix. Flamengo hold a 10% sell-on clause.
Wolves view £60 million as the opening figure in talks. The price reflects his age and his status as a central figure in their midfield.
Interest from several clubs could help the club hold that line. Even so, a sale at that level may be unlikely if they drop into the Championship, but it remains a logical starting point as they seek maximum value.
