João Palhinha could return to the Premier League with Aston Villa next season, with a move for the 31-year-old under consideration.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Unai Emery and Villa’s hierarchy are weighing whether to submit an offer, adding there have been no talks with Bayern Munich so far.

The Athletic states that Villa are looking at a loan. Teamtalk, meanwhile, says negotiations are under way and that the preference is a permanent transfer worth around €23.5 million, which would likely also suit Bayern.

Palhinha spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. He remains on Bayern’s transfer list despite a contract running until 2028.

Benfica Lisbon’s recent push to sign him looks likely to collapse due to the high overall cost of the transfer package.
