Joaquin Panichelli undergoes knee surgery in Lyon after Argentina ACL rupture | OneFootball

Strasbourg forward Joaquin Panichelli has undergone knee surgery in Lyon, one week after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while on duty with Argentina.

In a post on Instagram, he described the setback as something that would spur him on, calling it a personal challenge he was keen to meet and pledging to give everything.

The procedure was carried out on Thursday by Professor Bertrand Sonnery Cottet, who then organised a conference on the injury in partnership with OL Lyonnes.

Panichelli was accompanied for the operation by his wife, his agent and the doctor of the Argentine Football Federation.

The length of his absence has not yet been determined.
