Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt has again hinted at a permanent Hull City move after their promotion to the Premier League.

He rejoined Hull on a season-long loan last summer after an initial six-month switch in January 2025, and has scored 15 goals, including the second in the 2-0 play-off semi-final win at Millwall.

The 24-year-old came on midway through the second half at Wembley on Saturday as Hull beat Middlesbrough to clinch promotion. Oli McBurnie struck deep into added time.

Asked if he would sign permanently after promotion, Gelhardt replied: "It's a good question, isn't it? Let's see what happens over the summer, but it's pretty clear what I want to do." He told Hull Live.

Hull do not have an option to buy him because of their recent transfer embargo.

Leeds were seeking £3-4 million for Gelhardt last summer, a figure that could rise after this season and promotion. Any fee above £1 million would be profit for Leeds. He will return to West Yorkshire after a brief break for talks and has one year left on his Elland Road deal.
