Joel Piroe has marked the end of Leeds United’s campaign with a message celebrating his first taste of Premier League football and the team’s progress.

The player said in an Instagram post that playing in the Premier League had long been a dream and he thanked supporters for standing by the side throughout the season.

Piroe began Leeds’ first year back in the top flight as the previous season’s Championship Golden Boot winner, yet he had not featured in the division before this term.

The arrival of Dominic Calvert-Lewin curtailed his opportunities, leaving him with 246 minutes of league action, but he stressed his satisfaction at finally operating at the highest level.

Leeds amassed 47 points and finished 14th, a return Piroe saluted in his end-of-season note.
