Six goals and seven yellow cards saw 90 minutes end all square, with the planned penalty shootout called off.

The hosts took an early lead against the run of the play, taking advantage of a Chelsea back three which at times seemed all at sea.

Time and again JDT players were guilty of late tackles and swipes off the ball, while the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo was getting very frustrated by the antics.

Liam Delap hit back from the penalty spot just before half-time, and minutes later missed a glorious chance to hand Chelsea the lead.

He made amends after the break, again from the penalty spot, only for JDT to score twice to re-take the lead in the final minutes.

There was still time for another Chelsea equaliser as Mykhailo Mudryk’s cross was turned into his own net by Antonio Glauder.

A penalty shootout was due to settle the game, but the CFC+ commentary team suggested that the raised tempers saw the spot-kicks called off.

The Daily Mail’s Kieran Gill reported that Kevin Campello, Chelsea’s head of first-team operations was heard saying “it’s written in the contract” amid confusion over if the penalty shootout would go ahead.
