Jon Guridi is poised to become Sevilla FC’s fourth signing, arriving as a free agent after his spell at Alavés ended. It would be the first addition under new sporting director José Ignacio Navarro, who has replaced Antonio Cordón.

According to Zona Mixta, the agreement with the midfielder is complete and the move has been explicitly requested by head coach Luis García Plaza. The pair worked together at Deportivo Alavés and he trusts the Basque midfielder fully.

With this deal, Guridi would be Sevilla’s third free transfer of the window after Juan Iglesias and Arouna Sangante. It also accelerates planning for next season.

García Plaza views him as the ideal profile to run the midfield, valuing his tactical discipline and versatility. During two and a half seasons in Vitoria, Guridi was a key fixture in the coach’s plans.

A Real Sociedad academy product who impressed on loan at CD Mirandés, Guridi made 148 senior appearances for Alavés. A 31-year-old left-footed interior at 1.79 metres, he is noted for distribution, ball recovery and late runs from midfield.

This would be Navarro’s first official act since taking charge, and he is already working with García Plaza to address gaps in the squad. The club are exploring goalkeeper options, with Odysseas Vlachodimos and Diego Conde among the leading alternatives.

With pre-season approaching and Patrick Mercado’s situation still to be resolved, Sevilla are set for a busy few weeks. Outgoings remain on the agenda, along with reinforcements in the positions requested by the coach.
