Jonathan Jesus's agent is expected in Lisbon on Monday for talks with Benfica, as the club explores a move for the centre-back. According to Glorioso 1904, the meeting would be part of Marco Silva's plan to replace António Silva.

Rui Costa and Mário Branco are expected to sit down with the representative to discuss the player's future and understand how far Benfica are prepared to go in negotiations. Jonathan Jesus has been identified by the hierarchy led by Rui Costa as the top target to reinforce Marco Silva's defence, particularly after António Silva's departure to Bournemouth.

The main obstacle is not thought to be financial at this stage. Cruzeiro remain reluctant to negotiate for sporting reasons, with the 22-year-old regarded as indispensable by Artur Jorge.
