Jonathan Rowe was sent off after losing his temper during Bologna’s friendly against Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday.

As reported by L'Équipe, he had just released the ball when Stefano Russo hit him with a heavy shoulder barge. The 23-year-old responded with a forceful chest blow, then moved to confront another opponent.

The referee showed a straight red in the 40th minute. Bologna later slipped to a 0-4 defeat against the German second-tier side.

The flashpoint comes close to a year after Rowe was involved in a bust-up with Adrien Rabiot at OM following a 0-1 opening-day loss to Rennes.

That incident hastened both departures, with Rowe joining Bologna last summer and the France international signing for AC Milan.
