What Will Jordan Carrillo Bring to Gabriel Milito’s Chivas?

Jordan Carrillo’s arrival adds a highly valuable attribute to the squad: the ability to unlock defenses when opponents sit deep and limit space around their own penalty area. Chivas’ newest signing excels in tight spaces, a quality that has become increasingly important for teams that typically take the initiative in matches. His first touch, quick changes of direction, and ability to combine with teammates in crowded areas allow him to create advantages where they seemingly do not exist, making him a key asset against compact defensive structures.

Carrillo is a right-footed player with excellent short-distance explosiveness, capable of accelerating or slowing down in an instant to beat defenders in one-on-one situations. Beyond his technical quality, he stands out for his ability to read the game quickly and make sound decisions under pressure, a trait he consistently displayed throughout his career and particularly during his time with Pumas last season.

Although much of his career was spent operating from the left wing on his opposite foot, he has found his best form in recent years playing centrally as an attacking midfielder. That role naturally fits Gabriel Milito’s tactical approach, which often relies on players with those characteristics to connect lines and create advantages between spaces. In that context, Jordan Carrillo has all the tools to become a difference-maker within Chivas’ system.

Welcome to the club you’ve always loved, Jordan!
