According to ExpressAndStar.com, former West Brom loanee Jordan Hugill is set to drop into non-league, with a free transfer to Hartlepool United reportedly nearing.
The striker turned 34 this week and is a free agent this summer after leaving Rotherham, where he has been since 2023.
Hugill joined Albion on loan for the first half of 2021/22 from Norwich, who had just gone up to the Premier League as Championship winners.
He scored once in 20 appearances under Valerien Ismael, netting in a 3-0 win over Bristol City in October.
He returned to Norwich at the end of January after Albion signed Daryl Dike from Orlando City in a £7m deal and added Andy Carroll on a free. Ismael was soon dismissed and replaced by Steve Bruce.
Pools finished ninth in the National League last term and last month appointed former Newcastle man Lee Clark as head coach.
The peak of Hugill’s career was a 30-goal spell across a little more than three seasons with Preston in the second tier, which led to a £10m move to West Ham, where he made three appearances.
He scored 17 in 128 for Rotherham, including a brace in a 3-1 New York Stadium victory over Albion, then managed by Carlos Corberan, in April 2023.
