Jordan James aggravated an injury during a fitness test last week and may be a doubt to face Swansea this weekend, Leicester City manager Gary Rowett has said. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the setback follows a problem picked up on Wales duty.

Rowett had initially eased concern, indicating City’s top scorer could even be in contention to face Preston last Friday. James was not in the squad at North End, then missed Easter Monday’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

He has now explained the fitness check before Preston worsened the issue, with the midfielder eager to get back on the pitch. He added that neither James nor fellow attacking midfielder Aaron Ramsey were close, and that Ramsey did not make either game.

Rowett said City miss those goalscoring number eights who can produce something out of nothing. He maintained there were enough players on the pitch to win and to score more than one.

James has now missed eight of City’s last 13 matches, and City have not won any of those eight. His return for Swansea this weekend remains uncertain, with City again trying to climb out of the relegation zone.
