Rennes forward Mousa al-Tamari has been named in Jordan’s squad for the country’s first World Cup, which runs from 11 June to 19 July.

L'Équipe reports that the tournament will be staged in Mexico, the United States and Canada, and Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami has selected three goalkeepers, 11 defenders, six midfielders and six forwards.

Al-Tamari, formerly of Montpellier, is the squad’s only player active in one of Europe’s top five leagues. Seven players are based in Jordan’s Premier Division, five in Iraq and three in Saudi Arabia.

Captain Ehsan Haddad is included despite being out for nearly a year with an Achilles problem, while striker Yazan al-Naimat misses out after an anterior cruciate ligament rupture at the Arab Cup in December.

Jordan lost 1-4 to Switzerland on 31 May. They face Colombia in San Diego on 7 June in their final warm-up, then head to their base in Portland. They are in Group J alongside Austria, Algeria and Argentina.
