Jorge Costa remembered in Marítimo’s I Liga promotion celebrations

Marítimo’s promotion to the top flight was marked by a tribute to Jorge Costa during the celebrations.

According to O Jogo, the homage was led by Marco Leite.

Leite, formerly Costa’s assistant and now part of Marítimo’s coaching staff, made a point of honouring him.

Costa, once director of professional football at Porto, died on five August 2025 from cardiorespiratory arrest.

The gesture took place as the island club celebrated their rise to the I Liga.
