Jorge Jesus was at the Maracanã on Saturday to watch Flamengo v Coritiba in the Campeonato Brasileiro while on holiday in Brazil.
According to Globo.com, he landed in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday morning.
It was his first time watching Flamengo at the stadium since departing in 2020. He arrived with fellow Portuguese Alfredo Almeida, the club’s academy director, and briefly told reporters it was always good.
Asked about the prospect of returning to Flamengo now, he said it was out of the question.
Jesus oversaw 58 matches for Flamengo across 2019 and 2020, winning 44, drawing 10 and losing only four. His 81.6% win rate is the club’s best of this century, and he lifted five trophies, the Carioca, Brasileiro, Libertadores, Supercopa and Recopa.
His most recent job was at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where he won the national title with Cristiano Ronaldo’s team. He has also been linked with the Portugal national side after the World Cup.
