Midfielder Jorginho says the Flamengo squad feel responsible for the dismissal of head coach Filipe Luís, according to Coluna Do Fla. He has urged team-mates to accept accountability and focus on improvement rather than pointing fingers.

Flamengo dismissed Filipe Luís on Tuesday, despite an 8-0 win over Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca semi-final at the Maracanã.

At Friday's media briefing, he said the dressing room had strong affection for Filipe Luís, felt the impact of his exit and accept their part in the situation.

The side have fallen below expectations this season, sitting 11th in the Campeonato Brasileiro. They were beaten by Corinthians in the Supercopa do Brasil and lost to Lanús of Argentina in the Recopa Sudamericana.

The club moved swiftly to appoint the Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim, formerly of Cruzeiro.

With Jardim now in charge, Flamengo face Fluminense in the Campeonato Carioca final at the Maracanã on Sunday at 18:00 Brasília time.
