The Paraguay centre-back, 30, has already resumed club duty with Lanus.

Paraguay eliminated Germany on penalties in the round of 32, with Canale converting the decisive kick. They were then beaten 1-0 by France in the last 16.

Canale came on early in the second half against France, around 10 minutes before Kylian Mbappé scored from the spot.

International coverage criticised Paraguay's rugged approach against France and also in the previous round against Germany.
