José Mourinho says player who refused painkilling jab never played for him again

"I once had a player who did not want to have a small painkilling injection for a match," said José Mourinho. He told the BeastModeOn podcast.

The Real Madrid coach, aged 63, added: "I took off my shoe and sock, put my foot in front of the doctor and asked him to inject me."

"My toe was perfect," he said. "He called me 'crazy'."

Laughing, Mourinho concluded: "He never played for me again after that."

He did not reveal the player’s identity, and he gave no hint of the club or the period concerned.
