Jose Mourinho has been evaluating his Real Madrid squad ever since he agreed terms with Florentino Perez weeks ago. His decisions have already led to four new signings being made, while he has also ruled on the futures of several existing players.

Dani Ceballos and Fran Garcia will be allowed to go, while Alvaro Carreras is expected to stay despite Mourinho being unconvinced by his profile. Another player that the Mourinho has evaluated is Endrick Felipe, who is returning to Real Madrid this summer following a successful loan spell at Lyon during the second half of the 2025-26 season.

Endrick registered eight goals and eight assists in 21 appearances for Lyon, as he looked by far his most productive since moving to Europe from Palmeiras in the summer of 2024. He’ll hope for better under Mourinho than he had with Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso, and he will have chances to make his mark, with Marca reporting that he will not be leaving again.

Endrick will compete for right wing starting spot

Mourinho considers Endrick to be an important option for next season, with his physique and power said to be particularly liked by his new manager. As per the report, he is seen as someone that can make the right side of attack his own, especially given that Franco Mastantuono could be loaned out and Rodrygo Goes is still recovering from the ACL tear he sustained earlier this year.

Endrick was originally signed as a striker option by Real Madrid, but given how well he performed from the right during his time at Lyon, it makes sense to try him out there – especially as Kylian Mbappe will be the undisputed starter through the middle. It will certainly be interesting to see how he gets on, as he must start showing why the club paid €60m to sign him in December 2022 when he was still only 16.
