Benfica have announced the contract renewal of 18-year-old left-back José Neto through to the summer of 2031.
The club said in a statement, issued on Friday 24 April, that the defender has agreed a five-season extension.
Neto could serve as understudy to regular starter Samuel Dahl on the left next season, mirroring Daniel Banjaqui’s role behind Amar Dedic.
He joins a small group earmarked for the future at Benfica, with Anísio Cabral and Daniel Banjaqui also renewing in recent months, both until the summer of 2031.
This season Neto has played 29 official matches for the club. They break down as 11 in Liga Portugal Meu Super, eight in Liga Revelação, six in the UEFA Youth League, two in Liga Portugal Betclic, one in the Liga dos Campeões and one in the Campeonato Nacional sub-19.
Across 1,964 minutes he has one goal and four assists. He is valued at three million euros.
