Arsenal’s talks over a new contract for Kai Havertz are reportedly moving in a positive direction, according to journalist Steve Kay.
Posting on X as an update on a previous story he’d covered on Havertz’s future, Kay stated that things were progressing well for the Germany international to put pen to paper on a new deal.
See below for details as Kay says Havertz is an important part of Mikel Arteta’s side and that he’s set to be rewarded with a one-year extension to his current contract, with everything seeming to continue well in terms of moving towards an agreement…
“Understand that contract talks between Arsenal and Kai Havertz over a one-year extension are ongoing and moving in a positive direction,” Kay said. “The Germany international, currently tied to 2028, has become an important player for Arteta, with negotiations continuing constructively.”

Havertz has shone since joining Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, scoring a total of 31 goals in 94 appearances for the club.
The 26-year-old didn’t necessarily look like the most exciting signing when he first joined after a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge, but Arteta clearly rates him highly.
If anything, Havertz’s importance has only become even clearer while he’s been out with injury problems since last year, as he’s immediately made a big impact since returning to fitness.
Capable of playing up front or in midfield, Havertz has plenty of qualities that give him a slightly unique profile in this Arsenal squad.
Tall and strong, as well as skilful and intelligent, Havertz looks like a real asset in a variety of roles, and that more than makes up for the fact that he’s not the most prolific player.
