FC Barcelona have struggled quite a bit with its striker situation so far this season. Robert Lewandowski has struggled quite a bit with injuries and inconsistencies, while Ferran Torres’ form seems to have fallen off a literal cliff.

The Spaniard may not always feel central to Barcelona’s long-term conversation, but his name is clearly not going unnoticed elsewhere. Atletico Madrid sporting director Mateu Alemany is a big admirer of the Barca forward.

This is according to journalist Matteo Moretto via MARCA. He has also added that Ferran remains very comfortable at Barcelona and continues to make an impact whenever Hansi Flick uses him. Even without being an automatic automatic starter, Ferran keeps contributing with goals or assist.

Ferran is not a player who looks completely out of place or one who has stopped offering value. In fact, his problem at Barca has often been status more than output. Atletico could make an offer to take him off their hands, should the club look to sell him.

From a Barca perspective, this is where the story gets interesting. Ferran is often treated like a player on the edge of the project, yet he keeps doing enough to make a clean decision difficult. Sell him, and Barca lose a useful attacker who can still affect games.

However, if the club want to sign a new striker and still keep hold of Lewandowski, selling the Spaniard becomes a viable option. That, coupled with the fact that Ferran has a contract until 2027 makes him a candidate to sell.

Alemany’s influence could make Ferran the next in a long list of strikers to swap Barcelona for Atletico Madrid. It remains to be seen how things play out on this front in the coming months.
