Italian journalist Paolo Condò warns Milan after a January transfer window that saw the Rossoneri sign five new players: ‘Rushing things is a risk.’

The Rossoneri were one of the biggest spenders in the 2025 winter transfer window as they invested almost €50m in new signings, including centre-forward Santiago Gimenez and right-back Kyle Walker.

The Rossoneri were among the favourites to win the title, but are currently fighting for a top-four spot, which is currently seven points away. According to crypto betting sites, the Rossoneri remain a credible competitor for a Champions League spot, but competition is fierce and includes Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina and Atalanta.

Paolo Condò, one of the most popular football journalists in Italy and a member of the Ballon d’Or jury, analysed the January transfer moves from Serie A clubs, starting with the Rossoneri.

“There are many things to say about Milan this season, but you can’t say that they let the grass grow under their feet,” the journalist in his column for Corriere della Sera, via TMW.

“The risk is rushing things, letting someone go before they can prove their worth: this was happening with Pavlovic, who revived just in time.”

Milan rivals Juventus were also pretty busy in the January window and welcomed four new players, including Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle United on the deadline day.

“Juventus also needed solid additions, and Kolo Muani is, for now, the most important January signing. He has scored three goals in two matches, enough to revive even Vlahovic, whether as emulation or competition.

“Climbing up to the title race, it’s clear that the sale of Kvaratskhelia to PSG is the flip side of the coin compared to Kolo Muani, meaning it’s the most painful departure in all of Serie A.

“Understandably, Conte is upset for not replacing him with Garnacho or Adeyemi, but he shouldn’t tear his clothes over Saint-Maximin, a player who had ended up in Saudi Arabia after being waited on for too long.

“Inter got more from Zalewski in one play than from their entire summer signings: it might have made sense to replace one of the backup strikers, but Oaktree must not have given the green light.”

The Nerazzurri signed Zalewki on loan from Roma and the Poland international debuted with an assist for Stefan de Vrij’s late equaliser in a derby della Madonnina against Milan in the previous round.

The Nerazzurri remain three points below Serie A leaders Napoli, but they have a game in hand, which they’ll play against Fiorentina this week.
