Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has hinted that a return to Anfield in the future remains “possible,” more than a year after bringing his transformative nine-year reign to an end.

Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast, transcribed by Sky Sports, the 58-year-old German, now Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, reflected on his departure in May 2024 after 491 games in charge, admitting that while he does not currently miss management, he has not ruled out one final chapter on Merseyside.

I said I will never coach a different team in England, so if I did return, then it’s Liverpool,” Klopp said. “So, yeah, theoretically, it is possible.”

Klopp stepped down citing exhaustion, describing himself as “running out of energy” after nearly a decade of relentless intensity. During his tenure, he restored Liverpool to the pinnacle of English and European football, delivering the club’s first Premier League title in 30 years, a Champions League triumph, and a series of domestic and international honours.

Reflecting on his current role, Klopp insisted he remains content away from the touchline. “I love what I do now. I don’t miss coaching, standing in the rain for hours, or doing endless press conferences,” he said. “I don’t want to die in the dressing room.”

Yet, in typical Klopp fashion, he left the story open-ended: “I’m 58, not that old. Maybe in a few years I’ll feel differently. I’ll just see what the future brings.”
