Former Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp is prepared to open negotiations with La Liga giants Real Madrid, over the manager’s job at the club.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing UOL Esporte, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.

The subject of the bench at Real Madrid has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain over the last 24 hours.

This comes after Los Blancos surrendered their Champions League title without so much as a whimper.

After being battered 3-0 by Arsenal at The Emirates, the Spanish champions followed up with another loss in the return leg on Wednesday, on this occasion by two goals to one.

The nature of their continental exit has since given rise to widespread calls for Carlo Ancelotti to be sent on his way as soon as possible.

And as alluded to above, should as much, as expected, be forthcoming over the weeks ahead, then an altogether surprising replacement could be in store for the Italian.

The tactician in question? Jürgen Klopp.

‘UOL Esporte confirm that his entourage opens the door to a return as long as there is a project that convinces him and, at the moment, he would only contemplate the bench of Madrid and the Brazilian national team. Florentino Pérez is seriously considering the signing of the award-winning German coach as an antidote to Flick’s Barça.’
