Julian Brandt, a Leeds United summer target, has been seen training at former club Bayer Leverkusen alongside Arsenal striker Kai Havertz, with his next move still undecided.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, his father Jurgen has held talks at Thorp Arch, and Leeds face competition for the attacking midfielder. There have also been suggestions he is leaning towards a Premier League move.
Brandt, 30, is a free agent after leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season. He spent seven seasons at Signal Iduna Park, playing more than 300 games across all competitions including in the Champions League.
With no club pre-season to report for, he returned to Leverkusen, where he broke into senior football. He spent six years at the BayArena before a €25 million switch to Dortmund in 2019.
Brandt and Havertz previously spent three years together at Leverkusen between 2016 and 2019.
Brandt made 215 appearances for Leverkusen after joining from Wolfsburg in 2014, scoring 42 goals and providing 52 assists, and earned a Bundesliga Team of the Season place in his final campaign.
He then registered 57 goals and 70 assists in 307 games for Dortmund, won the DFB-Pokal, made the 2022/23 Bundesliga Team of the Season and featured in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.
