Julio Cesar has been appointed Corinthians' new football manager, announced by executive of football Marcelo Paz. The role had been vacant since last week following the dismissal of Renan Bloise.
According to Globo.com, the former goalkeeper leaves Red Bull Bragantino, where he worked as technical coordinator, to return to the club he served for nearly a decade after emerging from the terrão at Parque São Jorge.
He described arriving in this new role at the club that formed him as deeply satisfying, saying he has studied and worked to be ready for the challenge. He aims to help the club, players, staff and board, and pledged to work day and night to keep Corinthians at the top, adding that he feels happy and fulfilled.
In recent years he has completed football management courses with the CBF Academy, further training in sports management at FGV and football management with Conmebol. He is scheduled to report to CT Joaquim Grava on Tuesday.
Paz outlined the position as a key link with players and coaching staff, present at matches, training, the dressing room and on trips. He said they will work closely to ensure the best for Corinthians and the sound running of the football department.
