Julio Enciso named in Paraguay's World Cup squad

According to L'Équipe, Strasbourg forward Julio Enciso was named on Monday in Paraguay's 26-man squad for the World Cup, which runs from 11 June to 19 July, by Argentine coach Gustavo Alfaro. It marks the country's first World Cup since 2010.
Enciso ended the season strongly with Strasbourg, registering one goal and four assists in his last three Ligue 1 matches. The selection is dominated by players based in the Americas, particularly in Argentina and Brazil.
The list also includes Cremonese striker Antonio Sanabria and Miguel Almiron, formerly of Newcastle between 2018 and 2025, now at Atlanta United in MLS.
Paraguay are in Group D, where they will face Australia, Türkiye and the USA, the latter one of the three host nations.
The 26 features goalkeepers Roberto Fernandez, Orlando Gill and Gaston Oliveira. Defensive options such as Junior Alonso, Fabian Balbuena and Gustavo Gomez are also included.
