The closing stages of the transfer window at FC Barcelona could take a dramatic turn in the final days, with the club refusing to rule out a few late exits amidst the difficulties in completing pending player registrations.

In recent weeks, there has been persistent speculation about the possible departure of a key player from the first team squad.

Once options such as Marc-Andre ter Stegen or Andreas Christensen were ruled out, the names of Marc Casado and Fermin Lopez have remained on the table.

The immediate interests of coach Hansi Flick, who does not want to lose any player, are at odds with the club’s need for a significant sale in order to achieve the much-needed financial Fair Play compliance.

Chelsea submit formal offer for Fermin Lopez

And now, SPORT reports that Barcelona have received a formal offer from Chelsea to secure the services of Fermin Lopez.

Indeed, the Blues have made a firm move and submitted an offer worth €50 million for the Spanish international.

Barcelona director Deco is currently handling the details of the proposal from the Premier League club, and Fermin and his entourage are also aware of this opportunity to move to Stamford Bridge this season.

Barcelona are carefully evaluating Chelsea’s proposal, as the departure of Fermin for €50 million would solve all of their Fair Play problems.

It must be remembered that Wojciech Szczesny, Gerard Martin and Roony Bardghji are all awaiting the departures of Inaki Pena, Oriol Romeu and Hector Fort to be registered.

Fermin did not play vs Levante

One significant detail is that Fermin, after starting the opening La Liga game vs Mallorca, did not feature in the match against Levante at all this past weekend.

Manager Hansi Flick, who is against his departure, was seen speaking with the attacking midfielder during the match, seemingly trying to reassure him.

The player himself is fully aware of Chelsea’s proposal, making his decision a decisive factor in this saga.

Until now, the La Masia gem has always maintained his total commitment to Barça. But whether the competition for places and the looming possibility of reduced minutes convince him to opt for a move to Chelsea remains to be seen.
