Barcelona’s hopes of keeping Marcus Rashford have suffered a significant setback.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United are no longer willing to sanction another loan move for the England international, forcing Barcelona to reconsider their strategy if they want to bring the forward back to Camp Nou.
The situation has become more complicated following the expiration of the €30 million purchase option included in Rashford’s previous loan agreement.
With that clause no longer active, any attempt to re-sign the player would require fresh negotiations with Manchester United from scratch.
While Rashford remains open to continuing his career at Barcelona, the Catalan club now face a far more difficult operation than they did just a few months ago.

The biggest obstacle facing Barcelona is Manchester United’s current position, as the Premier League club is not interested in discussing another temporary transfer for the 28-year-old attacker.
Instead, United are focused on securing a permanent deal that would generate a significant transfer fee this summer.
That position immediately complicates matters for Barcelona, as they have other priorities to look into.
Despite that, the Blaugrana have not completely ruled out a move for Rashford and remain attentive to how the transfer market develops over the coming weeks.
However, without the possibility of another loan agreement, the financial commitment required to complete a deal increases considerably.

Notably, Barcelona are not the only club monitoring Rashford’s situation.
Manchester United believe the England international could enhance his value further with a strong World Cup campaign, potentially creating a bidding battle between several interested clubs.
According to the report, Bayern Munich continue to keep a close eye on the forward, while Aston Villa are also interested in bringing Rashford back following his successful spell during the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.
For Barcelona, additional competition is the last thing they need.
Not only would rival interest strengthen Manchester United’s negotiating position, but it could also push the eventual transfer fee beyond what Barcelona are comfortable paying.
