Marcus Rashford’s hopes of returning to Barcelona have received a significant boost after Manchester United changed their position regarding the forward’s future.
According to SPORT, the Premier League club has moved away from their previous hardline position and are now prepared to discuss alternative formulas that could facilitate another move to Camp Nou.
The development comes after Barcelona made it clear they were unwilling to activate the €30 million purchase option that had been agreed when Rashford joined on loan.
That decision initially frustrated Manchester United, who had hoped to secure a straightforward permanent transfer.
However, the situation has evolved rapidly in recent days, with United now appearing to have accepted that forcing Barcelona to meet the full clause may not be realistic, particularly given the player’s desire.

For much of the past few months, Manchester United maintained a firm position regarding Rashford’s future.
Club officials believed the winger’s performances justified the agreed valuation and repeatedly indicated that they were not interested in reducing the asking price.
Barcelona were aware of that and consequently focused their efforts elsewhere. Instead of negotiating directly with Manchester United, the Blaugrana worked with the player’s representatives to explore solutions.
The report states that Rashford himself was willing to make sacrifices in order to remain at Barcelona, including accepting a reduced salary package.
While there was a strong understanding between the player and the Catalan club, there was little room for progress because Manchester United refused to consider alternative structures.

Faced with a player who continues to prioritise Barcelona and shows little interest in other destinations, United have adopted a more pragmatic view of the situation.
The English club now see removing Rashford’s salary from their wage bill as a successful outcome, regardless of the exact formula used to complete the deal.
As a result, the possibility of a fresh loan agreement or a renegotiated transfer package is no longer being ruled out.
Despite that, though, the English international’s future is still dependent on several factors falling into place, as Barcelona would first need to create additional room within the squad.
This means potential departures from the current first-team group, and only once those matters are resolved will the sporting department fully reassess whether bringing Rashford back is the right move.
