Real Madrid’s recent defeat to Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey final is set to have major ramifications for the club.

It could start with the future of Carlo Ancelotti, who could face the axe either immediately or at the end of the season.

Real Madrid have earmarked Xabi Alonso as the ideal replacement for Ancelotti. But the club are also considering more experienced options, such as Jurgen Klopp.

Real Madrid have called Klopp twice

According to a recent report from MARCA, Real Madrid have called Klopp twice amid uncertainty over the future of Ancelotti.

The German tactician is highly favoured by the club due to his vast experience of managing top teams such as Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

Perhaps more importantly, Klopp, other than being an excellent tactician, is a certified man-manager, who has experience of managing big egos in the dressing room.

This is something Xabi Alonso cannot offer to the table. And therefore, Real Madrid refuse to rule out the option of hiring Klopp.

The report adds that Los Blancos have called Klopp twice to know about his intentions this summer.

It must be noted that Klopp is taking a break from coaching right now and is currently serving as the Head of Football Operations for the Red Bull group.

Earlier reports had suggested that Klopp could be open to replacing Ancelotti at Real Madrid, but his agent recently refuted those claims, stating that the Liverpool legend is happy in his current role with Red Bull.

The coming weeks, therefore, could prove to be pivotal as Real Madrid look to make a final decision on their coaching vacancy for next season.
