Justin de Haas earns Dutch acclaim as Valencia’s first summer signing | OneFootball

Justin de Haas, Valencia’s first signing for next season, is drawing strong reviews after an outstanding year with Famalicão. He will join on 1 July, having been secured on a free in January through Lisandro Isei and Hans Gillhaus.

According to Voetbalzone, the centre-back is 20th in its ranking of the best-performing Dutch players abroad this season. Most of those named play in Europe’s top five leagues, while de Haas is among only four from outside them, alongside Kjell Scherpen, Milan van Ewijk and Azor Matusiwa.

The report notes he was relatively unknown in the Netherlands after leaving PSV early for Croatia, despite coming through AZ Alkmaar and PSV. Now 26, left-footed and 1.94 metres, he has completed three campaigns in Portugal and is credited with an exceptional season as Famalicão finished fifth.

De Haas is also included in the Liga Portugal Fantasy team of the season with 164 points. He led a back line that conceded fewer goals than any side outside Porto, Sporting and Benfica.

The ranking is headed by Donyell Malen, with Jurriën Timber second, and features many from the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
