Juventus intensified their interest in other strikers once it became evident that Dusan Vlahovic wouldn’t stay, and they are getting closer to Alexander Sorloth, and the deal with Atletico Madrid that could involve other players, Gianluca Di Marzio informs.
Luciano Spalletti, who asked for a bigger say in the transfer market, has approved the acquisition after speaking directly with the player. The Bianconeri officials met with his camp in Oslo last week. He earns €3M yearly, so his personal terms aren’t a hindrance.
Juventus and Atletico Madrid have begun negotiating the valuation of Sorloth. He had been linked to Milan before their overhaul. He scored 20 goals and assisted once in 54 appearances in 2025/2026. He wasn’t always a full-time starter. The 30-year-old journeyman played at Villarreal, Real Sociedad, RB Leipzig, and Trabzonspor, among others, before joining the Colchoneros.
The two teams are also discussing the future of Nicolas Gonzalez. Cholo Simeone would like to retain him, but the Spanish side wants a discount on his €32M option to buy. The Argentine doesn’t want to return to Turin. The Old Lady also asked for info about Jan Oblak, as they are looking for an experienced goalie. On the other hand, he earns €12M annually, so it’s improbable that they’ll proceed.
There seems to be a pretty manifest convergence of interests, and it shouldn’t be too hard to devise a swap between the center-forward and the winger, whose price tags might be similar. Adding the Norwegian international would look better if they could also onboard another reliable striker with complementary traits, like Randal Kolo Muani.
