Juventus director Francois Modesto assures they ‘made Douglas Luiz realise’ his mistake, praises Dusan Vlahovic for being ‘professional,’ and admits several current players will be sold.
It has been rather a slow transfer window so far this summer for the Bianconeri, who brought in Jonathan David as a free agent, Joao Mario, and bought Francisco Conceicao on a permanent transfer after his initial loan.

However, the squad remains packed with players who do not have a future in the plans of coach Igor Tudor or the club, something fully acknowledged by Modesto in his interview with Tuttosport.
“This year we decided to bring everyone along for pre-season training, in agreement with the coach. We are Juventus and must treat everyone equally. We have also been very clear with them, but they are behaving well, and we are happy about that.”

Not everyone fits into that category, as Douglas Luiz failed to turn up to pre-season training as expected, prompting an angry response from Juventus.
“He was welcomed back. He knows he made a mistake, we made sure he understood that. We called him in and made him realise what Juventus means. Douglas is very sorry, but this is in the past now and he is back in the group.”
Vlahovic is in a similar situation, as his contract is due to expire at the end of the season and negotiations for an extension hit a brick wall, but at the same time they don’t want to risk losing him as a free agent.
“He is training and doing well. He is professional. And a Juventus player,” noted Modesto.

There had been some doubts about Tudor after he took over from sacked Thiago Motta in a caretaker role, but he was given a more permanent role ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
“The coach is very happy, he did well last season and wants to continue that work. We are giving him the chance to continue, we speak every day and the club is in line with his vision,” concluded Modesto.
“It is going to be a long campaign, with many games, but I feel the Club World Cup was very important in helping create that cohesion between the coach and his squad.”
